The Wakouwa is a wooden toy created by the Swiss Walther Kourt Walss. Wakouwa is also called Wakou in some countries. It is made up of two parts: A base containing a push button with a spring, and a figurine which moves at the rate of pressure on the base. We can thus bring the figure to life, make it nod, lay it down, lift it up all at once, etc. The first Wakouwas were made as early as 1932.

The figurines generally represent animals and characters, sometimes objects, flowers, buildings or any other creatures. They are almost all made of wood, but nowadays also plastic push puppets exist.
