BRIO started introducing its wooden toy train system with wooden tracks in Europe in 1958.

It may have been the first company to use the "peg and hole" system to connect the pieces in mass production that all companies used. The peg system has been replaced by magnetic connectors. BRIO may have been the first company to use beechwood for this product.

I have a Wooden Horse which is Rubber wheels, its 9" to the seat height and 16" to the top of the head. Its has pegs to hold and steer it thru the head. Its painted white and red.It has a Brio made in Sweden Tag on it. I could email a picture if you give me a link or email address. Just wondering what its value is.

Did Brio ever make and sell a train whistle with the Brio logo on it?
I found a wooden Brio train whistle with a picture of a locomotive with a wagon on it. The wagon carries the text 'BRIO'. It was priced at 20 USD, but I think that's a bit too much.
